Red Hat certifies Telstra's Cloud

Telstra has joined the likes of Amazon EC2, Fujitsu and IBM, receiving Red Hat certification for its public Cloud offering.

Telstra is one of seven Red Hat Cloud partners. Along with Ixonos and Savvis, it is recognised as a “certified provider” by Red Hat.

The certification represents Red Hat’s blessing for Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployment in Telstra’s cloud.

"Offering Red Hat Enterprise Linux in our Cloud computing background offers our customers more scale, more flexibility and the opportunity for them to run more applications out of our Cloud,” Telstra executive boss, Philip Jones, said in a statement.

Red Hat launched its Cloud partner program in mid-2009

At the time Mike Evans, Red Hat’s vice-president of corporate development, compared Cloud computing to the “wild West”. “We’re tiresome to bring some sanity and safety [to the market] and give customers more options,” Evans said.

Telstra has been certified by Red Hat Linux as one of its Certified Cloud Providers, the Australian telecommunications company said in a media release yesterday.

It is the first Australian telecommunications company to receive this certification.

The certification would expand the number of business applications compatible with Telstra’s cloud computing services.

Executive boss Philip Jones described the certification as the latest investment in its cloud offering.

Telstra is the seventh company to be certified, joining Amazon, Fujitsu, IBM, Ixonos, NTT Communications and Savvis.

Certification means a guarantee that existing Red Hat Enterprise Linux customers and firms who want to go to cost-effectual Linux-based operating systems can run RHEL and supported applications and databases on Telstra's supported cloud platform.

Ixonos Introduces New Flagship Design Studios in London and Beijing

Aug 22, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) — Ixonos, a company focused on making wireless technologies, mobile devices, services and software, announced it is launching two new user experience point studios, one in London, UK, the other in Beijing, Plates, to answer the increasing demand for user experience point services.


Ixonos said it launched the User Experience Point Centre in mid-2010 and has a completely functioning flagship point studio in Helsinki, Finland, as well as a smaller satellite studio in Kosice, Slovakia.
